I saw this on the fabulous blog of Natasha and it clicked with everything I’ve been feeling all day about my post about Jennifer Mendelsohn’s NYT piece.
Liz had a great point in the comments about attacking the problem vs. attacking the writer, and I was too hotheaded to hear it at the time.
I cherished my opinion over another mom writer’s feelings, and next time I will try harder to be better. Though I stand by my thoughts, there was a kinder way to say them.
That’s all, was raised Catholic, need a good confession to move on. Thanks, y’all.

I think it takes a lot of courage to post here and admit your flaw! Kudos to you! All we can do is learning from the past and trying to do it better in the future.

Often times when we read a blog, we want to put in our 2 cents. I mean, that’s what blog-networking is all about, right? But it can get out of hand on occasion.
My wife & I went over 1 Peter 2 a few weeks back, and towards the end of it, Peter talks about the suffering we endure, and when we do, we should be as Jesus who, when they hurled insults and such at Him, He didn’t retaliate…and as ones who follow Him, we should in turn follow His example.
In other words, instead of retaliating against the sinful people, he retaliated against the sin (like you mentioned, attacking the problem vs attacking the “writer”).
