In case you ever wondered why my name is…

Date February 2, 2010

Rock and Roll Mama, Will Kennedy wrote a profile of me over at the Life 360 Blog. I have to say, Will asked some of my favorite questions ever, and is generally a super cool guy.

I’m doing that super fun thing where I stay up all night to get ahead on content and catch up on laundry, preparing for a few weeks of travel. Thank goodness for Blip FM and headphones, or I’d be passed out on the couch long ago. Currently playing: B-52’s “Love Shack”, and I’m just coming off of listening to Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” 42 times in a row. (Thanks, @blairdc, for blipping it and reminding me how very much I love it!!!)

So let’s see, what’s up. Tonight, I’ll be a member of the hosting panel on a Fishful Thinking Girl’s Night Out on Twitter from 9-11 pm EST- stop by! My fellow panelists are: @1momof5, @cecilyr, @karenreivich, @noflashcards, @pepperidgefarm, @sarah0514, @sitsgirls, @springtacious, @ssmirnov, @reneejross, @rockandrollmama, @writingthewaves, and @youngmommy.

We’ll be discussing positive parenting. If your kids are still little and cute, believe me. This’ll come in handy during adolescence. (Love you, J! You’re a great kid- even for a dreaded teenager.:Mommy lucked out. )

This week, I’ll be in Nashville for Blissdom- if you’ll be around, let’s hang. I’ll be teaching a Social Media Wisdom Workshop at 11 am on Thursday, with Wendy Piersall, Jenn Fowler, Carrie Ferguson Weir, and Renee J. Ross. We’d love to see you there.

Friday night is our big Tastemaker Challenge for the US Potato Board- of course, since I’m a contestant, deets are top secret. All I know is that there will be potatoes and some kind of Iron Chef something something, and that my hair studio owner Earl loaned me a killer apron with a Pirate theme. :) If you feel like checking out my three forays into cooking videos for the Tastemaker Campaign, here’s One, Two, and Three.

I’ll be home on Sunday for a day, then it’s back to Walt Disney World for the Social Media Moms Celebration. My mom, mother in law, and two younger kids are tagging along for this, and I’m so looking forward to some laid-back Disney magic with them.

Then, we close out the month with Mom 2.0 in Houston. (If you haven’t yet, enter our Fishful Thinking Mom 2.0 Pass Giveaway!) Gretchen Rubin, author of “The Happiness Project”, is keynoting this, and I’m really intrigued to meet her. She’s been rec’ed to me by three of my fave people now, so I purchased the book yesterday to read in my travels. So far, I love what I see. (ALSO: Number ONE Non-Fic NYT Bestseller this week!!! Go, Gretchen!!! High Five, sister.)

I really love travel and have mucho editing to do this month, so am excited to have some airplane time. Wifi on planes is killing the last frontier of where I was safe from my ADD- used to be I couldn’t do anything except be in a Word Doc and knock stuff out. These days, even the plane has Twitter. Sigh. I suppose I could use DISCIPLINE, but c’mon. That’s no fun.:)

Have a lovely Tuesday, and touch base- what are you up to? Top secret project? Leave it in the comments. C’mon, y’all know my Mom’s my main reader, and she won’t tell on you.:)

Have fun at Blissdom & Disney. I had to skip both of those because my hubby is traveling, but I’ll be at Mom 2.0. Look forward to meeting you.

I’m reading Gretchen’s book right now. It’s the first book I purchased on my Nook. Thought I’d brush up before Mom 2.0. So far I’m loving the book and I’ve spent a ton of time perusing her blog and I’m even thinking about starting my own Happiness Project. Just cuz it sounds like fun.

Let’s see my latest project will happen at Mom 2.0. Not a huge deal, but for me it is very exciting. Can’t really reveal until I get all the details hammered out though.

Have fun traveling and I’d love to hear what you think about the book when you are done. We can compare notes.

Working on a Web site and hopefully some new business plans for 2010, but a new MC semester just started so that comes first. Sounds like a fun February for you – I’ll see you in Houston.

Whew! What a month you have ahead of you! I saw the line up for Mom 2.0 and SO wish I could go. Looks amazing! I will definitely be seeing you this weekend in Nashville. Can’t wait to check out the Iron Chef type potato thang.

Well, you were right about the trapeze stuff. It was scary but to let go of that second hand. I almost didn’t let go but then I remember what you said. What an exhilarating night, let me tell you!

    See you soon, lady!
