Ace of Cakes in Baltimore Harbor Saturday!
April 9, 2009
Hey you local kiddos- if you’re in the Baltimore neighborhood on Saturday, April 11th, swing by the 2009 Great American Bake Sale in the Inner Harbor from 12-3 pm.
Chef Duff (of Ace of Cakes and general cake star fame:) is Share Our Strength’s spokesperson, and cakes will be raffled to benefit this awesome non-profit organization, dedicated to ending childhood hunger.
You can win a beautiful Charm City Cake! And I’m here to tell you, they don’t just look good, they’re delicious. For our wedding, Duff made a 6-tier yellow cake with lemon curd and blueberries in the middle, a Chocolate Rickenbacker Groom’s cake (which we lived on the first week we were married) and a Spongebob Squarepants cake that Jack still talks about. I’m thinking of inventing an occasion for another one- it’s our 6.5 year anniversary?? But maybe I should just go bid on some cakes for a great cause.
There will be a decorating tent for kids, the Ace of Cakes crew will be filming, and it’s FREE. and Share Our Strength will give all the donations to effective nonprofit organizations in Maryland to help more kids in need get healthy snacks and suppers after school and during the summer. Seriously, I can’t think of a more fun way to spend Saturday.
Let’s see, did I mention that it’s free, and full of awesomeness for folks of all ages:
* Live filming of Ace of Cakes
* Kids’ Decorating & Activities Tent
* Great American Bake Sale, Duff-style
if you can’t make it, because you, I don’t know, live in another state or something, then I will leave you with one of my favorite clips: the time Duff made a cake for my husband’s band, Clutch, to present to the 9:30 Club in DC. It combines 3 of my favorite things: Cake, Rock and Roll, and 9:30 Club.

This is so cool. I’m related to a customer of Charm City Cakes. I DVR that show every week so I can cry about not living in B’more any more.

So jealous! Did you go there? We love Ace of Cake! And I totally remember seeing that episode – of course not knowing it was your husband’s band!
