MIA in the Family Way

Date October 13, 2008

I learned via Brooklyn Vegan last night that MIA is quite pregnant. I’ve been a fan of the Sri Lankan powerhouse since her Galang Galang days, and was so excited to see the pics (Credit: Kyle Dean Reinford) of her rocking the stage at a NY party with her bump front and center.

Go check out these pictures, and tell me what you think- I was blown away by how powerful she looks. It’s pretty cool to see a traditionally passive and protected state transforemed and translated in this really Goddess-Y way.

I’m at Blogher DC today, in the lunch session right now, and will be back tomorrow with more words. If my head doesn’t explode from all the learnng. Hot topic of the day? Twitter: Brain drain or community building dream?

I was at the Brazilian Girls concert in Philly on Saturday (check them out if you don’t know already), and she is very preggers too! She looks beautiful on the stage, and the music totally agrees with her growing belly. It was oddly mesmerizing. I knew MIA was taking time off, but didn’t know it was because she was pregnant. I love her too!
P.S. Met you yesterday at BlogHer and am now obsessed with Rock and Roll Momma. Loves it!

I don’t know MIA. You’ll find out very quickly that I have completely fallen out of music and have no idea who anyone is. It’s very sad. I’m ashamed:)

As for Twitter – we certainly didn’t talk about that yesterday, did we. I am anti-Twitter and very much of the Brain Drain persuasion. I think I rolled my eyes every time it came up yesterday, which was what, like 213 times?

Oh, and I forgot to pump before I left…
