Peace-Love-Mom Shirt Giveaway
September 15, 2008
T-Shirts have long been a wardrobe staple of mine- throw one together with a pair of jeans, and Bam, you’ve got yourself a look. No, Mom, I’m serious, that is my idea of fashion!
This one’s a classic- black, slightly fitted, declaring your rock and roll-ness to the world. The folks at PeaceLoveMom thought you guys might like it, and I agree. I’m sorely tempted to keep it, but that’s not the point. We are SHARING the love.
PeaceLoveMom sports a variety of shirts, all supporting one message: “Because motherhood does not define us- We define it.” I can’t think of a better rock and roll attitude. I love it. Thanks again, PLM!
Here’s what you need to know- the shirt is roughly a size 12, and will shrink about 5%. I’ll use a random number picker to name a winner from the comments next Monday, 9/22.
To enter, just leave a comment telling me about your favorite concert T-shirt. It’s a tough call, I know. But try to narrow it down. Mine was probably my shirt from the first Lollapalooza. Man did I feel cool in that. I was a sophomore in high school, and in my mind, it screamed AWESOME.
In other news, we had a great weekend. We went to Salisbury to hang out with Dan at his show, but we didn’t stay for the music part, as he didn’t play until 11 and the kids were tired. Best part: the show was at a venue where weddings are held, and we commandeered the Bridal Dressing Room as the kid holding pen. So amidst the lovely 3 way mirror, and ottomans meant to hold preening bridesmaids, my children ran amok having makeshift Nascar Races with the rolling chairs. It was so fun. They also ate ALL the Hershey Mini bars that are always on the rider. Then, back to the hotel next door for swimming and bed while Daddy played.
The next day, we hit the Ocean City boardwalk. We didn’t dress for the beach, as it was supposed to rain. So you can guess what happens next: that’s right, all my kids in the ocean with their clothes on. It was fabulous. Then we changed them up in the minivan, and you bet they slept the whole 3 hours home.
Also, PeaceLoveMom is spreading the love to you folks. Visit www.peacelovemom.com and use ROCKANDROLL for 10% off all purchases over 20.00. The code expires 10-15-08. I know I’m going to use it.:)
Good luck, and I can’t wait to hear about your concert shirts.
xoxo, L

My favorite concert t-shirt is my FAITH babydoll t-shirt that was absconded with from GEORGE! I big fat puffy heart it more than anything. Who cares if I am probably too old to be wearing a babydoll shirt, and who cares if everyone thinks I am wearing it because it has my name on it….they are stupid. I am glad you had a great weekend!

Only concert tee I stiil have is a shirt from an ex’s band, but that’s another story. Back in the 90’s it was my Lemonheads shirt. Remember them?

half of my dresser is concert t-shirts that rarely get worn but NEVER get thrown away. My favorite would probably be an oversized Beastie Boys shirt in which their heads on superimposed onto John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever body. I have no clue why i got such a large t-shirt. I remember being excited about wearing it when I was pregnant with my twins, thinking it would finally fit, but it still hung off me like a bright yellow beastie muu-muu.
oh and I had a boy george shirt when I was about seven that was awesome, I wish i still had that one. If it was still around it would definitely be my favorite.

My favorite concert T is an Eagles black baby doll that reads “Terminally Pretty.” The word “pretty” is in big pink girly script. I love wearing it whenever I need an ego boost.

you should see this coming, but my favorite concert shirt was culture club. the shirt was of boy george wearing the same get up as you see in the “karma chameleon” video. in fact, i think i may still have that shirt somewhere in a keepsake box.
i googled the karma song, and boom there he is! my heart started racing like it did oh so many years ago. it’s kind cool that i can conjure that silliness back up just by using google.
“your my lover, not my rival”.
ok, yeah i’m not right

Damn, Mary Jenkins, I have no idea what happened to my Lemonheads t-shirt. It was a prized possession at one point, as was the INXS tee that a friend bought me on a trip to O.C. She said, “They were out of Motley Crue t-shirts so I bought you this”. My life changed in that moment.

My favorite concert T-shirt is the one I would’ve bought in 1988 if my mom had let me go to the Bon Jovi concert just before I turned 16. It was an hour away and she thought I was too young. The shirt would’ve had the dagger through the heart and it would’ve said “Bon Jovi.”

I don’t care what anyone says, I still love my $5 No Doubt knock-off t-shirt I bought from a rather suspicious looking gentleman outside the Santa Barbara Bowl.
Of course, it doesn’t say No Doubt… It says No Dout. But when you’ve just been to an awesome concert with a few people around you smoking the good stuff, it reads the same.

But, I’m not a mom. Can you make one that reads “I KNOW…”
Anyhoo, here goes: my favorite concert t-shirt was my –don’t laugh– Yngwie Malmsteen shirt I bought when I saw him (kind of) at Hammerjacks. There you go, TWO blasts from the past in one post.
Listen, face-saving time. I didn’t care much for Yngwie, but the girl I went to Hammerjacks with was totally into him. And, well, I was totally into her…at least I wanted to be.
If I could’ve twittered that night, here’s how it would’ve gone down:
She buys me tickets. Chick wants me!
We got liquored up (whiskey sours) in Gtown.
Pre-partied in DC, wohoo! Go Terps!
SHIT! The DC cops dragged me out of the car and put their guns on me & made her dump all our alcohol.
Fuck, now I’m sober.
We made it to Bmore, we’re drunk in the parking lot.
What happened? Why am I still in the car?
Shit, I passed out in the car and puked on myself.
Hey I’m rawlb ghtydl;. ..
We’re home. Gnite.
She moved away to Virginia.

Oh so easy!! I had a totally amazing Dead Milkmen shirt with “Big Lizard in my Backyard” on it. I wore it till it dissipated into nothingness… sigh. I would so love a new super cool t-shirt.

My favorite is the Only the Good Die Young t-shirt from my first concert – Billy Joel at HersheyPark

There’s always something about your first. When I was 12 or 13 I got an INXS shirt that had all of the lyrics to “Mediate” (that annoying flip side of “Need You Tonight”) printed on the back. Back in the days of Michael Hutchence at his best. Wore it until it fell apart. Hmmm….wonder whatever happened to it? Now I just have to thank goodness my son is too young for the Jonas Brothers.
