My brother Andy is two years, two months, and two days younger than me. This made for some amazing fights- most notably those which involved us running through the house, each with a gallon of milk, spitting it on each other, laughing hysterically. I wish I could say we were like under 10, but that would be a lie.
One of the beauties of having a brother so close in age is that we love a lot of the same music. With two notable exceptions: the time when he was five and played the Indiana Jones soundtrack for 6 month straight until the record “broke” (sorry, bra) and the time when he was 15 and got the Led Zeppelin boxed set for Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Led Zeppelin, who doesn’t. But Stairway to Heaven, through the walls, 23 hours a day for months on end??? Oy. And, of course, there was the obligatory playing along of guitar.
But he reminded me of how much we have in common musically, the other night when he shared his list of songs from the 90s he wants to obtain. For some crazy reason, he doesn’t have an Ipod, so he wants me to get them on Itunes and make him a disk. I’d put the list here, but my server would cry and shut down- it’s a long one. Notable hightlights: Hobohumpingslomobabe, by Whale, and Walking on a Wire, by Lowen and Navarro. Man I loved those songs. Factoid: The Navarro in Lowen and Navarro is Dave’s older brother.
Speaking of brothers: mine is living in a new place, Westmoreland County in Pennsylvania. He doesn’t know very many folks there yet, and works is a very man-dominated field (He’s a wildlife biologist.) He’s also a great artist, a stellar brother, and knows all the words to Rock Lobster. (Or at least the important ones.) If you’re a nice girl who wants to have coffee with him, or know of any on that area, holla at me via the contact form on the About Page and we’ll talk. (This is being done with his consent, obviously.) Not like in Sixth Grade when I’d call his crush giggling while he dove for the phone. Ah, the joys of being an older sister.

He’s really very cool, Luddite tendencies aside. If you break his heart, we’ll have to chat. But if you’re a cool PA girl who likes to discuss which Smiths record is best? He’s a good guy to know. Also if you need small nuisance animals trapped.
Back to the 90s: If you had to make a list of songs from the 90s, what would be your favorite? What would be the one you never, ever wanted to hear again? My Favorite: Ooooh this is hard: There is a light and it Never Goes Out, Smiths. Never Again: All Apologies, Nirvana. Yarghhh too much yelling for me. I know, it’s genius, I know. No accounting for taste.
