First Official Book Giveaway- “I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone”

When I saw this book, staring at me from the Barnes and Noble table, I knew I had to read it.
Exhibit A: Combat Boots on the front.
Exhibit B: Sleater-Kinney song for title. SOLD.
Luckily for me, the writing lives up to the cover. Debut novelist Stephanie Kuehnert delivers a raw, pitch perfect story of a daughter longing to connect to her mother through music.
I’d tell you more, but at least one of you is going to win it. SO here’s the dilly-O. Leave a comment on this post, telling me your all-time favorite band. That’s right, people, just the one. Narrow it on down. On Friday, I’ll write the names down and pick one. Then, I’ll send you the book. (Not the same one I read, because I need to keep it. You get your own, shiny copy.:)
On Wednesday, I’ll post an interview Stephanie was kind enough to do about the themes of moms and music running through the book.

favorite band live: Ween
I just scrolled through itunes, comparing and contrasting the loveableness of each band. Picking a favorite band is like Sophie’s Choice.

you make an impossible request. you know that right? i love all kinds of music, from metal to opera. but if i have to choose, regardless of the mood i’m in, steely dan always feels right.

stone temple pilots. have loved them since junior high, which freaked out my grandma (she didn’t “get” how hot scott weiland was to me), but she always encouraged my love of music, and bought me all the music my parents banned.

I can’t pick my favorite…. but I assure you, despite the fact that I’ve been forced to listen to them often, it’s not The Wiggles! I did get to see Coldplay the other night, and they were amazing…

Okay. Don’t laugh. I’m harking back to my tween years and saying Duran Duran. I was obsessed with them in the early ’80s, as all my female friends were. I got to see them live 2 years ago (for the first time!) and they still put on a great show. I discovered that I like some of their recent stuff, too. So, D2 it is — at least for this blog.
