I have a longstanding love of Neil Young, harkening back to “Heart of Gold”. It’s one of the first songs I remember learning all the words too (not hard, I know.) I was maybe 6, cruising in my mom’s Impala wagon, rocking out.
But times have changed, and Neil isn’t digging it. CNN Money reports that at the Brainstorm Tech conference earlier this week, Neil shared the stage with Time editor John Huey. Neil lamented the changes services such as Itunes have wrought in music quality, and likened the typical Ipod sound to that of a “Fisher Price” toy. I had to laugh…my Ipod never scares the bejesus out of me at 3 am when it randomly starts talking in the toybox.
We definitely have a collection of old school LPs here, but I guiltily admit that we never break them out, opting for digital convenience over analog warmth and quirks.
What about you? Do you miss the old school delivery of music, or is any way you can get it good enough? And what actual physical “records” do you still own? I have the “Gone With the WInd” soundtrack. (Thanks Bro!)
